From the Emilian underground scene comes the new album by Daniele Faraotti, in nine unusual tracks, characterized by very convincing improvisations and electronic loops. "English Aphasia" is a different record from the current homologated music scene, because it contains instinct, courage, a desire to dare and a desire not to compromise too much.
The album opens with the title track, which reinforces this concept, presenting itself as an instinctive song, with no refrain, and with a line of toy drum. The second track carries the scent of The Rolling Stones. In the title ("I Got The Blues") and in the setting, but both music and text are totally different. Still a toy instrument to outline the third track of "English Aphasia", a toy keyboard that gives soul to "Connection", following the rhythm of the bass. The dreamy "Between For A Day Trust" is a substitute for eclecticism and fantasy, because you can easily pass from shrill sounds to other harmonious ones. English Aphasia contains instinct, courage and a desire not to compromise This piece, closed in his world, gives us the feeling of wanting to carve out a place outside, as if trying to attract attention. Scattered notes by Daniele Faraotti on David Bowie and creepy keyboards give life to a fusion track, with Frank Zappa veins, entitled "Zawie III". Echoes of The Beatles emerge in "Sea Elephant". The only trace of the disc to be sung in Italian, and with many unique features, which make it bizarre. Clearly parodied by Lennon's memory walrus, the song follows a rhythm of its own.
A reverse slide compared to the original "I The M Walrus", as if it were a reflected image. "English Aphasia" closes with "Joni, George, Igor And Me", on an improvised basis taken from "African Coro" included in the Logic Instrumental Software software. The song takes us to safety by protecting us from the darkness of the night, gently cradling us between layers of voices, trumpets and percussion, and George Harrison guitars.
Daniele Faraotti's music cannot be linked to anything already known The consideration that comes to our mind is that Daniele Faraotti does not enjoy the fame he deserves, because his art is not just music. It is a concentration of improvisation and play, theatricality of the settings and notes of music of other times, and above all of different genres, fused with meaning. All this also thanks to moments of nonsense, wanted and emphasized, to bring out a particular and unique soul, which would deserve much more visibility and attention.
The songs of "English Aphasia", as well as the previous works by Daniele Faraotti, cannot be linked to any track among those we already know. And it is for this reason that we think that the Forlì artist should have more following. For his qualities as an eclectic songwriter. Overcoming the first phase in which we might feel lost, the continuous listening opens up a new world in which music takes ethereal forms.
